Remembering My Father

In honor of Fathers Day I would like to write about my father who passed away 16 years ago as a result of heart disease. As I mentioned my parents had the pleasure of raising 6 teenagers during the 1970s. This was the time when my father became more involved with our upbringing. He gave us kids some very basic rules to follow. Rule 1 Stay out of trouble with the law. Break the law and you will go to jail. Rule 2 Go to school and graduate . Rule 3 Help out around the house and no you do not get an allowance. He provided us with food, clothing and shelter and we were expected
to do our part. Rule 4 No lying and sneaking around behind his back. Any violation of His rules and you would have to find some other place to live. I personally did not have a problem with the rules.
My Father was a very smart and fair man. Living in the country, we grew our own food. His favorite time of year was planting season. I always had the honor of planting the potato seed because my foot was just the right size to place in between the seeds. We always planted our garden on Memorial Day, unless it rained. As for my Fathers rules , I am using them on my daughter and yes they still work. Thanks DAD , I LOVE YOU!!!!!
